Yes, we are working on a new album and currently writing and demoing lots of songs. We have no specific timeline right now but we are hoping to get back into the studio in the fall. Here’s a song we demoed at Blue Light Studio a couple months ago. A little taste of things to come… Click here and listen to our new demo song ‘Sunday Morning’!

In other news… Redgy Blackout is branching out!

I (Scott) am excited to be going to Regina, Saskatchewan! I’m performing (acting and playing trumpet) in The Buddy Holly Story at the Globe Theatre in May and June. It’ll be be my first time on the Prairies but don’t worry… I’ll be back in July!

Jeremy, on the other hand, will be performing a few show this summer along side Dallas Smith at some festivals in Western Canada. Turns out that playing the banjo really can get you hired by other bands! I know he’s pretty stoked and maybe a little nervous too but I know he’s gonna rock it.

Throughout all of this we will continue to write and demo our next record. So stay tuned but in the mean time spring is here! Get out there and plant something in the ground and most of all… have fun! ~Scott

CMW 2012 – March 19 to 27

I write this from the airplane 39,417 feet above the ground. We are flying back to Vancouver after spending 9 nights and 8 days in Toronto for Canadian Music Week 2012. It was our debut performance in Toronto and it was completely worth the trip and the lack of sleep. One thing I can say for sure is, it was an adventure!

We played our official showcase at The Sister on Wednesday night sandwiched between two bands from Ontario, Air Marshall Landing and The MacHams. A big thanks to them for lending us gear and also thanks to the rhythm section of The Matinee, Mike and Peter, for playing with us. It was a fantastic night! We also rocked a duo show on Friday night at a little place called Not My Dog on Queen St. It’s in Parkdale and it has a lot of character. Such a funky venue! Lastly, on Sunday afternoon we went busking in Kensington Market (by far one of my favorite areas in Toronto) and later on we played at the open mic at Super Market where our pals, Current Swell, were playing the night before.

Our week was filled with, well music of course! We attended the conference during the day where we met lots of industry folk including songwriter Dan Wilson who wrote Adele’s hit “Someone Like You.” We watched lots of bands in the evening, new and familiar, at some amazing venues including the lengendary Horseshoe and we even bumped into Ron Sexsmith outside the Dakota Tavern. We saw our friends, Rococode, The Belle Game, The Matinee, The Washboard Union and so many more. We met lots new people and we shared our biodegradable seeded download cards with most of them. They always seemed to be a hit and a topic of conversation that’s for sure. Our last night was spent at Not My Dog once again where we saw The Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra (a great band from Vancouver) and hung out with some friends, old and new.

You know, I feel that it was perfect timing for us to finally make the trip to the T Dot. What with our success out west with the PPP and all the touring we’ve done, we were prepared and ready to make a splash in the big Canadian music city. As a band we continue to grow and this past week and a half in Toronto was an important step for us. I am ready to get back home to my own bed and familiar comforts. I can’t wait to write some new songs!

Sincerely,
Scott Perrie

It has been a busy month filled with live shows all over BC and Alberta. We finished our Mountain Tour last night at the GLC in Whistler with our good pals The Matinee. Music is always better when shared with friends. We plugged in and really rocked out. It was awesome. Here is an excerpt of a story that was in the Whistler Question last week from a chat I had with Christopher Poon.

“It was all about being in the perfect place at the perfect time. Whether it can be called chance or fate, the end result is nonetheless the same and now, five years later, Redgy Blackout is emerging as one of Vancouver’s top up-and-coming bands.

It all began half a decade ago, when Scott Perrie, co-founder of the Vancouver-based group, was making the rounds in the local music scene. It was then that he came across Jeremy Breaks.

“(Jeremy) had driven down from Prince George…” Read the FULL article!

Toronto is just around the corner. We have lots of brainstorming and planning to do as well as rehearse our new line up for Toronto. We will be playing with Mike Young on Bass and Peter Lemon on Drums both of whom are in The Matinee. This is where you come in! You can help us create lots of buzz about our shows in Toronto and us in general by sharing with your friends (Toronto or otherwise). Every little connection makes a big difference and it means a lot to us. ~Scott

Well hello there!

I write this the night before we hit the road for our first show on our MOUNTAIN TOUR. Tomorrow we drive to Revelstoke. It’s 7 hours, give or take, depending on the roads and how many stops we make. The next day we drive back to Vancouver. Seems a little odd, but here in British Columbia it’s not out of the ordinary to drive almost 600 kilometers to play a show! We have lots of shows coming up and some of them with even LONGER drives but it’s worth it to make some new friends and new memories. Here’s a full list of dates and places we will be in the next month.

01/27/12 – Revelstoke, BC – Powder Springs
02/03/12 – Jasper, AB – Whistle Stop Pub
02/04/12 – Canmore, AB – The Canmore Hotel
02/08/12 – Kelowna, BC – Habitat w/ Fields Of Green
02/09/12 – Nelson, BC – The Royal on Baker St w/ Daniel Sky
02/10/12 – Fernie, BC – The Northern
02/11/12 – Harrison, BC – Layback Lounge
02/17/12 – Victoria, BC – Canoe Brew Pub w/ Maurice opening
02/22/12 – Vancouver, BC – The Biltmore Cabaret opening for Maurice
02/25/12 – Whistler, BC – The G.L.C. w/ The Matinee

We just released this video today of us playing one of our favorite cover tunes. It’s “Your Protector” by Fleet Foxes and we recorded it live at Blue Light Studio for FREE! Thanks again for having us guys. Enjoy! ~RB

They offered all the top 20 bands to come in and record a song and we are taking full advantage. A HUGE thanks to Blue Light for having us and to Kaj for doing more than just twisting the knobs and pushing the buttons. Also, congrats to our good friend Milton who recently became a father and thanks for coming by and shooting some video for us. HIGH FIVES all around! I posted a sneak peak of the new song on our Facebook page if you want to check it out. Enjoy!

Hey hey!

So, we played at the Biltmore Cabaret this past wednesday night to an enthusiastic crowd of drunks, drag queens and hipsters and the like… ;) By all accounts it was a good night. Read the full review of the evening at scene in the dark DOT com (Jennie Orton takes a dig at my top hat.. and i’ve been getting so many compliments on it lately!)

We have 3 more shows remaining in 2011. The first of which is our Christmas Party this weekend (Sunday) at Falconettis with Wake! Owl and friends. Free cover and all ages. Totally chill. Let’s have a drink together. After that we are back at the Vancouver Christmas Market from 430 to 630 for a festive acoustic set on Dec 22. Lastly we are ringing in the NEW YEAR at The Cellar on DEC 30 with Jack Mercer and Bodhi Jones. So stoked!

Happy Holidays!
